Tips For Safely Buying Air Purifiers Online

Going to eBay and bidding on an Ionic, HEPA, or other type of air purifier without ever seeing the item in person is an unnerving prospect for some people to think about.

But if you are careful and can follow some simple rules there are some real good deals available on eBay. You can come away from an auction with a bargain on an air purifier, paying much less than retail.

So what are some rules to follow when buying air purifiers on eBay? Here are a few that might make a difference between getting a good bargain on a discount air purifier and having a bad experience:

1. One important thing to do is to bid on the air purifier you are interested in with as little emotion as you can. It is easy to get caught up in the bidding. You start thinking about actually owning the air purifier, picturing it already installed in your home and that's when your emotions can overcome your good sense and you might end up overbidding or making a decision that you would later regret.

2. Whenever possible you want to do business with someone who has a history of selling the types of items you are interested in, in this case air purifiers. This does not mean that you cannot safely do business with an individual who got an extra one for Christmas and just wants to sell it on eBay. It just means you should be extra cautious and confirm that they are properly representing the item.

3. Next, check the seller’s feedback section. You should mentally pick a feedback rating that you are comfortable with, and rarely consider those sellers who drop below the point you have picked. Some buyers use a 97% positive rating as a guideline, and others are willing to take more risk and go a bit lower. Some buyers want to see a 99% positive rating.

4. Read some of the negative feedback comments. You can probably safely ignore the negative ones that look like they might be from new buyers who have not contacted the seller and given them time to correct a problem. This is a frequent mistake new buys make. You should really be researching to see if there is a pattern to the feedback which would show that the seller is not someone you can safely and confidently do business with.

5. Carefully look at the listing and find pictures of the air purifier on which you want to bid. You want to make sure that the pieces pictured are the actual pieces you will be bidding on, and not just a stock photo of a similar item that the seller has gotten from the manufacturer's website. If in doubt, email the seller. If you don’t get a reply then this is likely not a person you want to do business with anyway.

By doing your research and bidding carefully and unemotionally you can frequently find discount bargains on eBay and can locate sellers of used air purifiers whose
auctions you can have a high confidence in.
